Omanization Job Market
If you are an expat then the Omanization policy in Oman is directly aimed against you. This policy is similar to that found in other countries like South Africa. The benefits of Omanization to the people of Oman are secured jobs as with South Africa's BEE policy. This is always a double edge sword though as enforcing labour policys effectively does not improve competition and as a result jepodizes companies competitive advantage globally. The positive spin off though for omani's is that companies must look to improve their Omani work force in order to remain competitive
Oman Labour Image
The labour image of Omani's is generally not that good when compared to expat labour. Effectively omanis are given protection while expat labour is left to it's own devices generallt resulting in expats having to work harder to keep their positions. While Omani's have the luxury of more leyway with employers.
Omani's are however working hard to improve their skills base and more Omanis are training and working on improving their level of expertise in order to afford higher standards of living.
Oman Living Standards
In general Oman has a very high standard of living with Omani's been given a small living allowance from the Government. Oman also has the added advantage of not having income tax and as a result people have more disposable income. Oman is a muslim state and is trying to match it's eastern past to the western world.
Apart from the magnificent scenary and good hospitality of the Omani people the relaxed lifestyle is a wonderful change from some more frantic environments found in more frentic parts of the world.
